January 19, 2026Stronger Together: What the Renewable Energy Conference 2025 Revealed About Nigeria’s Energy Future
January 19, 2026Each year, the International Day of the Girl Child offers the world a moment to reflect on the realities facing millions of girls, and the possibilities that emerge when they are empowered to learn, lead, and thrive. Consumer Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (CADEF) joined the global community in spotlighting the urgent need to invest in girls’ education, safety, and digital inclusion.
Across Nigeria and much of Sub-Saharan Africa, countless girls continue to confront challenges that limit their access to opportunity: insecurity, socio-economic inequality, cultural barriers, and a widening digital divide. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), over 7.6 million girls in Nigeria are out of school, and more than 122 million girls globally remain excluded from education. Many also face heightened risks of early marriage, gender-based violence, and restricted participation in digital spaces, all of which diminish their ability to thrive.
Yet, despite these barriers, girls remain at the forefront of transformation. From leading community initiatives to championing peacebuilding efforts, acquiring digital skills, and creating solutions that strengthen their communities, girls across Africa are redefining leadership with resilience and courage.
CADEF celebrated these remarkable efforts while calling on policymakers, institutions, and communities to deepen their commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and empowering environments where girls can reach their full potential. When we invest in girls through education, digital access, and meaningful participation, we build stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger future for all, because the girl she is today is the leader who shapes tomorrow.
