The RegTech Africa Conference and Awards is Africa’s premier platform for regulatory technology dialogue, bringing together innovators, regulators, and advocates to shape the future of financial and digital governance.
At the 2025 edition, CADEF’s Executive Director, Prof. Chiso Ndukwe-Okafor, joined an esteemed panel on the theme “From Borders to Bridges: Empowering Consumers in the Digital Age through a Multi-Stakeholder Approach.”
Alongside co-panelists, Dr. Jane Tenge (Director of Strategy, Kenya Financial Protection Bureau), Alioune Ndiaye (Policy Lead, Smart Africa Secretariat), and Tosin Adebayo (Co-Founder, Civic Watch Nigeria), Prof. Ndukwe-Okafor explored how effective multi-stakeholder collaboration—governments, private tech actors, civil society, and consumers—can strengthen digital rights, equity, and protection across Africa.
The proposed strategies include regulatory harmonization and cooperation, simplified disclosure of requirements such as hidden fees and timeframes and digital finance literacy campaigns across borders, focused on the risks and rights of consumers, amongst others.
“To truly empower digital consumers, especially those in vulnerable communities, we must work across silos—bridging public interest with private innovation,” she stressed.
This panel reaffirmed CADEF’s mission:
- To champion fair digital finance,
- Strengthen consumer rights frameworks, and
- Lead grassroots advocacy for inclusive tech regulation in Nigeria and across West Africa.
